Preposições em Português & Preposições em Inglês

Aqui vai uma boa dica a respeito do uso das preposições seguidas de verbos.

Na língua portuguesa há 26 preposições. São elas:

Em português a preposição é seguida de verbo no infinitivo:

- Após JANTAR eles vão ao cinema.


Em inglês, é seguida de verbo no PARTICÍPIO PRESENTE:

- After DINING they go to the movies.

- Before SAYING what you think, think about what are you going to say.
(Antes de dizer o que você pensa, pense naquilo que irá dizer.)

- Don't leave without TELLING us where you are!
(Não saia sem dizer-nos onde você está [irá]!)


A preposição TO, que é a preposição do infinitivo, é a única exceção.

- If you go to the US TO STAY there forever, be informed that it is very difficult to get a visa nowadays.
